Four Square at Lowry Elementary
First to fifth graders play four square on the Lowry Elementary playground at recess.
They go out on the playground and start playing it. They hit a four square ball to another square to avoid getting out. To avoid getting out they hit the ball before it bounces in their square twice. If they fail to hit it, they are out and must go to the back of the line at the front of the court. If they don’t get out they advance to the next square depending on who did get out. Ms. Becky Bicha works at Lowry Elementary during the years of 2011 2012 school year as the new principal.
Bicha is the new principal of Lowry Elementary. She chose to be the principal of Lowry because she fell in love at first sight. She also loved the families, children and a fun talented staff to work with. Read the story »
Mr. Val Petrov at Lowry
Mr. Val Petrov teaches Lowry students about usage of computers in 2011-2012 school year.
Once a week every class at Lowry Elementary goes to computers taught by Petrov for their forty five minute lesson. Hard drives, files, and PowerPoint projects are shown how to be used. Improvement is seen on report cards and in the class itself. Typing skills have also been improving with spelling and typing games on the computers. Read the story »
The Poetry Slam

Fourth and fifth graders had a poetry slam where they were traders and the poems came with a bam.
They have been writing poems since the beginning of February. One class had the idea to have a theme. Their theme was that their poems had to be centered around black history month. When all of their poems were written down, the typed up all of them. Then their class chose the best poems and those kids recited their poems at the poetry slam. Read the story »
Spell-It

At Lowry Elementary fourth and fifth graders participate in Spell-It at 7:45 in the morning on Mondays and Fridays.
Here’s how it works: on Monday morning when they come, they grab a spelling list and a spelling activity worksheet that helps them study. Then they can either work on the worksheet or play a spelling game. On Friday they come and take a written spelling test of that week’s list. Read the story »
